We are a significant provider of apprenticeship training in Queensland. There are typically 120 apprentices working at our bioethanol distillery and sugar mills at any given moment. We hire about 35 new apprentices a year in trades like turning, boilermaking, fitting, and diesel fitting. For new graduates entering the workforce, we also offer a graduate programme.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with the production team to manage day-to-day production activities and manage the shift operations team
- Establish and manage any necessary action plan to improve product flow, stock level, quality, break downs and efficiency of the production process
- Lead, guide and support a team of tradespeople, operators and other employees to ensure their responsibilities are carried out in accordance with their job description.
- Lead achievement of short term deliverable’s, safety, productivity and quality objectives by resolving equipment availability issues and resources with relevant Engineering Services and maintenance personnel.
- Monitor production performance indicators including process quality indicators and down time. Report on major downtime causes through the 5Y’s process.
- Manage and document the performance of direct reports (including time, attendance, absenteeism, coaching/mentoring, training initiatives, and performance reviews or counselling)
- Identify process and quality improvements and initiate change management processes
- Be a leading proponent of the workflow process on site including experience in the use of SAP
- Ensure regular information sharing (e.g. Toolbox, Safe Starts, DOTCOM)
- Undertake Operations Coordinator duties in the Maintenance season leading a team to execute the maintenance program
Job Requirements
- Qualified Chemical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineer or Tradesperson/Operator with Production Experience
- Previous Sugar Technology experience
- A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a whole range of people
- A true team player who understands the value of teamwork and doesn’t need to be asked to contribute
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to proactively focus on stakeholders
